Manufacturing Industry encompasses a vast area of the business community. Many are highly regulated, but these regulations are most often focused on the products produced and not the Information flows. However, the cost per hour of system downtime is a direct/immediate impact to any manufacturing facility’s bottom line. Understanding these costs, and the likelihood of downtime are the first step to identifying opportunities for improvements. Having a current system backup is important, but knowing how long (downtime) it will take to recover from an event is more important. Knowing that the recovery process works; knowing that the data retrieved is usable; and, knowing how long it will take to complete the recovery such that normal operations can commence.
